- No: 38%

## How Prolepsia reasons

## TL;DR
Milwaukee is forecast to win the 2026 World Series with **62.3%** probability, while the probability of No is **37.7%**. The Brewers have the better full-season profile, home-field advantage, and a 0-0 series beginning in Milwaukee on October 23. Tampa Bay’s early-series pitching and Milwaukee’s workload questions keep the series competitive.

## Context
The Brewers and Rays have reached the World Series after different but similarly successful postseason paths. Milwaukee swept the Dodgers in the NLCS, while Tampa Bay won the ALCS in six games. The World Series is tied 0-0, so each club needs four wins.

Milwaukee has the 2-3-2 home-field arrangement because it finished 103-59, compared with Tampa Bay’s 98-64. Games 1 and 2 are in Milwaukee on October 23-24; Games 3-5 move to Tampa Bay if needed; Games 6 and 7 return to Milwaukee if needed on October 30-31 ([MLB World Series FAQ](https://www.mlb.com/news/2026-mlb-world-series-faq-schedule-times-teams-and-more)). The scheduled finish is well before the market’s December 31 deadline, so the live question is the on-field series rather than whether MLB will declare a champion.

## Evidence
The historical backbone here is the full regular season. A 162-game schedule is much more informative about underlying team strength than a few October games, even though October determines the title. Milwaukee went 103-59, a .636 winning percentage. Tampa Bay went 98-64, a .605 winning percentage. That makes Milwaukee the stronger team by wins, but the larger separator is how the clubs generated those wins.

Milwaukee scored 832 runs and allowed 618. Its +214 run differential implies a .633 Pythagorean winning percentage, essentially matching the club’s actual .636 mark. Tampa Bay scored 736 and allowed 650, a +86 differential. Its .557 Pythagorean rate sits well below its .605 actual record. The data shows Milwaukee was superior in both observed wins and the broader run-scoring and run-prevention record; it also shows that Tampa Bay’s actual win total was substantially better than its run margin alone would predict.

That distinction matters. Runs across a season usually carry more signal about underlying quality than a handful of close outcomes. But Tampa Bay’s 98 wins cannot simply be written off. The gap may reflect some mix of bullpen leverage, sequencing, defense, close-game execution, and variance. The evidence does not divide those causes cleanly. The practical read is that the run differential makes Milwaukee’s advantage material, while the Rays’ actual record prevents treating it as overwhelming.

The 128-run differential gap is therefore the core reason Milwaukee is favored. It is larger than the five-win gap and is consistent with a more complete Brewers profile. Milwaukee’s run prevention and offense were both strong over the entire schedule. Tampa Bay was an excellent team, but its raw run profile was closer to that of a good challenger than an equal to Milwaukee.

Home field adds to that advantage. Milwaukee hosts Games 1 and 2, plus Games 6 and 7 if the series reaches them. In a 2-3-2 World Series, that is valuable because the Brewers have four potential home dates and Tampa Bay has three. Historical World Series results also suggest that clubs opening at home have won about 58% of such series ([SABR analysis](https://sabr.org/journal/article/is-there-a-home-field-advantage-in-the-world-series)). History is not a substitute for the two teams’ current quality, but it supports treating Milwaukee’s schedule position as a real edge rather than a cosmetic one.

Milwaukee also enters better rested. Its NLCS clincher came on October 15, while Tampa Bay clinched the ALCS on October 19. The gap provides recovery and preparation time, especially for relief pitchers. Milwaukee’s bullpen has been a major part of its pennant run, and the rest edge is most useful if the series produces high-leverage late innings. Tampa Bay’s recent ALCS finish also required pitching usage in its Game 6 clincher ([AP report](https://apnews.com/article/e727b3a485df7dbf0dd866edbff9b22a)).

The strongest counterweight is the pitching setup at the start of the series. Tampa Bay is likely to start Drew Rasmussen in Game 1, while Freddy Peralta is aligned for Game 2 ([Game 1 lineups and pitching matchup](https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/rays-brewers-world-series-game-1-starting-lineups-and-pitching-matchup)). Rasmussen had a 16-5 regular season with a 2.67 ERA and entered the series after allowing three earned runs in 21 postseason innings. Peralta was the ALCS MVP. This means Milwaukee’s first two home games are not routine home-field contests against an ordinary rotation.

Milwaukee counters with Jacob Misiorowski, whose regular season was extraordinary: a 1.80 ERA, 252 strikeouts, 0.80 WHIP, and a .157 opponent batting average across 174 2/3 innings. He led MLB in each of those rate or counting categories cited in the club’s season review ([Milwaukee’s Misiorowski review](https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/jacob-misiorowski-finishes-2026-season-strong-vs-cardinals?game_pk=823731)). That performance is a major reason the Brewers have the higher ceiling in this matchup.

But Misiorowski is not a simple automatic advantage. His recent postseason starts were shorter and more laborious than his regular-season work, and his total workload is unusually high relative to his prior experience. This creates uncertainty about depth into games and about the reliability of a second potential series start. It does not erase his elite season. It does mean that the initial pitching matchups deserve a meaningful discount from a generic team-strength view.

Rotation depth also favors Milwaukee at the margin. Tampa Bay is without Shane McClanahan for the postseason because of left-forearm tightness. Over a seven-game series, missing a starter matters more than it would in a single game. Milwaukee has its own question in Brandon Woodruff’s shoulder availability, so the health picture is not one-sided. Still, McClanahan’s absence cuts into the Rays’ capacity to maintain top-end pitching through the full series.

Recent postseason records are supportive but weakly discriminating. Milwaukee is 7-1 and Tampa Bay is 7-2 entering the World Series. Both clubs have played well enough to validate their place in the matchup. Neither record is large enough to overturn the regular-season evidence. Milwaukee’s sweep of the Dodgers is impressive, while Tampa Bay’s series win over Cleveland confirms that it is far from an overmatched opponent.

The teams met for three games early in the season, with Milwaukee taking two of three and holding a +9 run differential ([MLB World Series preview](https://www.mlb.com/rays/news/brewers-vs-rays-world-series-preview)). That result points in the same direction as the season-long data, but it is too small and too old to carry much independent weight. A three-game April series is mostly noise compared with the full 162-game record.

Weather is unlikely to drive the outcome. Tampa Bay plays in a dome and Milwaukee has a retractable roof, making this likely the first all-indoor World Series ([AP preview](https://apnews.com/article/8f2bc398982fa35f75ea4be189da0b20)). That reduces the chance that ordinary weather disruption materially changes rest, pitching plans, or the completion schedule.

## What's non-obvious
The obvious story is that Milwaukee won five more games and has home field. The deeper point is that Milwaukee’s case does not rest mainly on those five wins. The +214 versus +86 run differential gap is much larger evidence. It says the Brewers’ advantage showed up repeatedly across scoring and prevention, rather than only through a small set of close results.

The inverse is also true for Tampa Bay. The Rays’ 98 wins are not dismissed just because their Pythagorean rate was lower. Their record carries real information about a club that consistently converted games into wins. What most simple summaries miss is that both facts can be true: Milwaukee’s underlying season was stronger, and Tampa Bay has performed too well to be treated as a weak finalist. That is why the saved forecast is 62.3%, not a near-certainty.

## Uncertainties
The central uncertainty is short-series variance. Even a clearly stronger baseball team can lose four of seven games. Tampa Bay has enough starting pitching, relief quality, and recent high-leverage success to win a series in which a few plays determine multiple games.

Several specific gaps limit confidence:

- Misiorowski’s workload and recent shorter postseason outings leave uncertainty about how much of his regular-season dominance carries into one or two World Series starts.
- Rasmussen and Peralta give Tampa Bay a credible early-series path, particularly if they blunt Milwaukee’s home-field advantage in Games 1 and 2.
- The available information does not fully separate sustainable skill from variance in Tampa Bay’s outperformance of its Pythagorean record.
- Milwaukee’s extended rest helps the bullpen but could produce some early offensive or defensive rust; the size and direction of that effect are hard to verify.

More granular projected lineups, confirmed rotation order after Game 2, bullpen availability, and updated injury status would narrow the range. They would not change the basic state of play described by the season: Milwaukee has the stronger underlying case and the favorable schedule, while Tampa Bay retains a substantial path to the championship.

## The question

Imported from Polymarket.
This yes/no question comes from a single Polymarket market.

### How it resolves

This market will resolve according to the team that wins the 2026 MLB World Series.

If at any point it becomes impossible for a listed team to win the 2026 MLB World Series per the rules of MLB (e.g., they are eliminated in the playoffs), the corresponding market will resolve to “No”.

If the 2026 MLB season is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026 ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”.

The primary resolution source will be official information from MLB (https://www.mlb.com/); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
